Requesting Research Development Services:
ORED’s Research Development team provides proposal development services to support strategic, large-scale grant submissions. ORED will provide this support for development and submission of major grant proposals that meet the eligibility requirements that meet the criteria below:
Eligibility Guidelines
The Research Development team reviews requests for support and prioritizes those grant projects that have the potential to substantially increase the Rutgers research portfolio or enhance the research infrastructure. Generally, RD-supported projects involve multidisciplinary teams and have funding limits in excess of $750,000 in direct costs per year.
Examples of Types of Support Provided:
-
Collaboration building including engaging support from within the institution as well as externally, developing letters of support and MOUs, and building internal consensus;
-
Project Management including kickoff meeting, RFP technical assistance, developing a timeline with deliverables, convening weekly meetings, and monitoring progress;
-
Development of Institutional Sections of Proposals;
-
Budget Development and Consensus;
-
Collection of Biosketches and other needed attachments;
-
Liaise with ORED Senior Leadership on project needs and deliverables;
-
Formatting/Style - Provide basic style guidelines for the creation of all portions of the proposal, including citation methods, formatting and paginating as well as creating table of contents.
Timeline
Because these are large-scale grants that typically require a great deal of planning, a timeline of 4-6 months is recommended, as this will also allow time for additional internal/external review prior to submission.
